Auto Racing As A Hobby

By Toby Trumbill
Some ride horses. Some spend thousands on motorbikes. Some collect car boosters to speed up their ride. These are the people fascinated by auto racing. If you are one of them, my hat's off to you. With enthusiasm and passion, anyone can become a competitive driver.

You know how those Formula 1 cars go round and round lap after lap? With automobiles, the thrill of racing can also be achieved. All you need is a location for a winning combination.

If you've seen "Fast and the Furious" and its sequels, is the whole point of the movies. Popularly known as drag racing, youth engaged in this newfound hobby and whoever racer finishes a certain distance at the quickest time is declared the champion.

Usually, drag racing is two cars pitting against one another. Once beaten, the competitor is eliminated. The winner proceeds to the next round ? it's just like tennis matches.

What most guys enjoy about motor racing is that they possess the ability to Push the envelope ever increasing their car's top speed. Often, enthusiasts also pimp 'em up, just like how they do it on MTV's "Pimp My Ride." A car enthusiast would understand precisely which accessories to get in order for him to not only boost up his car's racing verve but to also make it look slang clink.

- Air Filters Because air filter should be changed regularly, the racer knows which kind he should get. There is a specialized kind of air filter used when it comes to motor racing. A racer gets the one that can be changed at longer intervals, cutting down on time consuming pit stops.

- Auto Meters Extreme race car enthusiasts set up their dashboards as if it were that of an airplane's. A variety of auto

meters are laid out in front of them to fully be aware of the status of their racing vehicle. To name a few, there's the air/fuel pressure gauges, the tachometers and the temperature gauge.

- Fuel Boosters Now these are the ones you see on those race-car movies. Commonly known as NOS, racers have these injected in their vehicles which they use for emergencies. Nitrous Oxide injection increases the car's speed.

But just like in professional motor racing, accidents can still occur in this hobby. Take for example Keanu Reeves. No we're not talking about his personal life. Before Paula Abdul was a judge in "American Idol," she had a singing career. One of her videos "Rush Rush" featured a very young Keanu Reeves. In one scenes of the video, Keanu effortlessly got out of a race car prior to it completely fell off a cliff. His rival wasn't able to get out ? his door was locked.

Then Keanu did a movie called "Parenthood" where he played a young husband and dad-to-be who hadn't matured yet. He dabbled in motor-bike racing and car racing. In the latter, he lost control of the steering wheel and his car toppled upside down.

If a racer is not vigilant, these circumstances even if it were just on-screen, can still come about. Prior to racing, he has to ensure that he has taken the required precautions such as double checking his car breaks. He need not lock his doors just in case he had to get out. He still has to wear his seat belt though.

Motor racing is a hobby, even if it is more hazardous than the others. Those whose spiritedness points them to pursue this pastime ought be responsible enough of the consequences just in case they make the wrong decision. Too much speed can be deadly. This is proven true in a sport such as this ? racing. Thanks for finding my site and reading my article.
